A Playful Rhythm Enterprise

A Playful Rhythm Enterprise is a company dedicated to teaching and promoting Argentine Tango in the United States.
Argentine Tango is the traditional social dance of Argentina. It is a unique cultural phenomenon expressed by dance and music; it draws its essence from the immigrant experience of generations of residents of the city of Buenos Aires. This melting pot city combined Native American, African, and European folk influences to create a South American version of Jazz or Blues culture complete with its own dialect of Spanish (lunfardo) and a centuries old oral tradition of storytelling (the payador) preserved in tango lyrics and poetry. The Argentine Tango exists as an important facet of a very rich culture.

"A strange spell of a love made rhythm
That opened paths without any laws other than hope,
A mixture of anger, of pain, of faith, of absence
Crying in the innocence of A Playful Rhythm."

"El Choclo", Angel Villoldo and Enrique Santos Discepolo.

MARCELO SOLIS

He is a milonguero, Argentine Tango dancer, choreographer and instructor.
He was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1966. He started to dance Argentine Tango in 1986, and have never stopped since.
He loves to dance to traditional tango music from 1930's and 40's.
As instructor, he likes to bring to you the tango from the milongas of Buenos Aires; the social dance focused on musicality, connection, and improvisation. He bases his method of teaching on exercises and explanations that make his students understand the fundamentals of the dance.
He has taught and performed in many different communities in Argentina, USA, Canada and Europe.
Currently, he keeps a busy schedule in the San Francisco Bay Area, including regular group classes, special workshops, and private lessons.
He goes to Buenos Aires several times a year, where he teaches and gives exhibitions in the most important milongas, such as Salon Canning and Confiteria Ideal.
Every year he offers a Tango Tour to Buenos Aires to introduce his students to the culture and place of tango origins.
